Paragraph Comprehension: Reading for the Right Answer Paragraph Comprehension (PC) is one of the highest-stakes subtests on the entire ASVAB — because of the AFQT formula (AFQT = AR + MK + 2(VE)), your PC score is doubled before it counts toward your enlistment eligibility score. Mastering this section is not optional; it is one of the fastest ways to raise your AFQT percentile. --- ## Why PC Is Different From Normal Reading In everyday life, you read to understand, to form opinions, and to connect ideas to things you already know. On the ASVAB, all of that changes. The PC subtest tests one thing: can you find what the passage actually says? Your opinions, your background knowledge, and your instincts about the topic are irrelevant — and often dangerous. The golden rule of PC is: > Answer only based on what is stated or clearly implied in the passage.
